Epoch Times reported, citing a 11 November 2019 story in The Australian, that John Durham’s team interviewed Alexander Downer in London in October and also spoke with Erika Thompson. The Washington Examiner published the same account: Downer was said to have told investigators he was not part of a conspiratorial plot to undermine Trump. That is newspaper reporting of an interview. It is not a Durham charging document and not a published interview transcript. This site does not invent Durham’s questions or Downer’s answers beyond what those outlets printed.

Epoch Times added that Canberra, in a 2 October letter to Sen. Lindsey Graham, publicly acknowledged cooperation with the U.S. inquiry and rejected Graham’s assertion that Downer was directed to contact Papadopoulos and relay information to the FBI. That is a government letter as summarized. The letter is not reproduced here as a primary PDF in this preview.

Downer, on Sky News Australia (10 Nov 2019) as recapped by Epoch Times, declined to say whether he had been questioned by the FBI and said he was cooperating with the Australian government. A declined answer is not a confession.
